Human Sexuality (80029-C2-¶161.G)
Amend the last three sentences of the fifth subparagraph of ¶ 161(G) of The Book of Discipline Social Principals as follows:
The United Methodist Church does not condone the practice of homosexuality and consider this practice incompatible with Christian teaching. We Although we are not of one mind concerning human sexuality, we affirm that God’s grace is available to all, and we will seek to live together in a Christian community. We implore families and churches not to reject or condemn lesbian, and gay, and bisexual members and friends. We commit ourselves to be in ministry for and with all persons.
All human beings are persons of sacred worth, are recipients of God’s love and grace and deserve our love. The life of Jesus is filled with love and compassion rather than judgment and condemnation.
