Establish Ministry with Hard of Hearing and Late-Deafened People (80026-GM-NonDis-!)
A ministry with hard of hearing and late-deafened people shall be established within the Health and Welfare Ministries of the General Board of Global Ministries for the purpose of developing and providing consultation on ministries, programs and resources for hard of hearing and late-deafened people in the several annual and central conferences of The United Methodist Church.
A staff shall be employed, consisting of no less than two persons, one an executive director who is well-informed concerning the gifts and concerns of hard of hearing and late-deafened people, and the other who is a skilled administrative assistant.
An advisory committee shall be formed to convene at least annually, consisting of eight people well-acquainted with hard of hearing and late-deafened peoples’ issues, with two of the eight being members assigned from The United Methodist Committee on Ministry with Deaf, Late-deafened, Hard of Hearing, and Deaf-blind People, and whose initial tasks include designing the job descriptions for each of the staff persons.
The quadrennial budget for the Health and Welfare Ministries of the General Board of Global Ministries shall be expanded to an appropriate amount, but no less than by $560,000 to underwrite for program materials, staff salaries, benefits, expenses, and costs incurred by the advisory committee.
