Prevent Weaponization of Space (81206-C1-¶165.C)
Amend ¶165.C to read:
.... We insist that the first moral duty of all nations is to resolve by peaceful means every dispute that arises between or among them; that human values must outweigh military claims as governments determine their priorities; that the militarization of society must be challenged and stopped; that the manufacture, sale, and deployment of armaments must be reduced and controlled; that all human-made objects in outer space be registered and their purposes made known through an international body; and that the production, possession, or use of nuclear weapons and weapons for use in outer space be condemned.
Outer space – the heavens – is God’s creation. Efforts to weaponize space will weaken national security and foreign diplomacy by inciting other nations to pursue a new international arms race that will endanger all persons throughout the earth while also violating international anti-proliferation treaties.
