Term Limits for District Superintendents (81057-SU-¶418)
Amend ¶418 as follows:
The normal term for a district superintendent shall be up to six years, but this may be extended to no more than eight years at the discretion of the bishop, in consultation with the cabinet and district committee of superintendency. No superintendent shall serve for more than eight years in any consecutive eleven years. No elder shall serve as district superintendent more than
twelve fourteen years. In addition, consideration shall be given to the nature of superintendency as described in ¶¶ 401-402
Extending term limits for a DS from 12 to 14 years would allow a Superintendent who had served a term of 7 or 8 years to serve a second 6 year term. This would serve a district better than limiting the second term to only 5 or 4 years.
